This is a nice dug War of 1812 era regiment of riflemen coat button. It has the fancy script "RR" on the front of the button. On the back of the button the shank is missing which is why the soldier would have lost the button. This is the style listed as RI1 in Albert's Button book. This artifact was recovered in the War of 1812 Fort of Fort Hampton, which is in North Alabama between Florence & Huntsville. This is a nice dug 1-piece Regiment of Rifleman coat button from the War of 1812.
