Misc. Non-Excavated
MINTY! Beautiful Original Civil War U.S. Soldier's Belt Buckle
Click on an image to enlarge
This is what they looked like when they left the factory! This is one of the original buckles that were Civil War surplus. Since they weren't used during the War, the Government sold them as surplus. This one came from the Francis Bannerman firm decades ago. It is a fine original non-excavated Civil War soldier's belt buckle. This is the pattern with the arrow style hooks intact on the reverse of the buckle. The lead in the back of the buckle is present with a fine look and nice condition and all three of the hooks are intact. The face of the buckle has a nice and clear " US" on the brass that can be seen from across the room. The brass of the buckle has a wonderful golden tone which gives it this pleasing look all over. This is one of the style that often show up on the minty buff leather belts that were made by the firm of S.H. Young of Newark, New Jersey. This is a fine piece for any your collection.
