This is a fine looking authentic excavated Civil War Confederate button for the Confederate artillery. This is the fancy script old English style "A" button that is prized by collectors. This one has a beautiful smooth darker patina face with a clear script "A". This is the style listed as figure CS107 in Albert's button book and CS215a2 in Tice's button book. The original brass back and shank are present on the back of the button. You can still read most of the retailers mark on the back. This is one of the special things about this button. It was made in England for the famous firm that was located in Montgomery, Alabama of Halfmann & Taylor. They imported fine pieces to sell to the well-to-do- Confederate soldiers. The backmark still has the most of the marking still visible. This button is in fine shape and will be a wonderful piece to add to your Civil War Confederate button collection.
