Scarce Revolutionary War French 77th Infantry Coat Button Fought at Yorktown

This is a great little button! It is the 25mm coat button for the 77th Infantry regiment. This is the style that is has the large number "77" in the center of the button. It has the brass face with the distinctive French style Rev War timeframe bone back shank. This one has the original thread intact on the reverse. In Don Troiani's book on Revolutionary War button this pattern is a variant of the button listed as F77.c. He states that this regiment was known as the Beaujolais Regiment from 1776 until 1876 and the number was assigned to the Buckley Regiment (White Irish) from 1767 till 1775. The one in the book was excavated near the battle of Yorktown This one is in beautiful non-excavated condition. It will enhance any Civil War artifact collection.
