Original .31 Caliber Allen & Thurber 6-Shot Pepperbox Revolver
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a good looking and classic Civil War era six shot pepperbox pattern revolver. It has the 3-1/2 inch barrel length that fires a .31 caliber bullet from the chambers. This one is the six shot version. The side of the fluted cylinder has the "ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER" maker mark and production location. The action of the gun still rotates just as it should. On the side of the hammer it reads "ALLEN'S PATENT" in a straight line stamping. The sides of the frame have the floral pattern scroll work. All of the metal parts have the ancient attic or smokehouse look with some pitting as you can see in the images. The original 2-piece walnut grips are present on the handle of the gun. The walnut has a pleasing look to the wood that you can see has seen a lot of service. This is a nice looking Civil War era pepperbox from the famous Allen & Thurber Company.
