Well here is a great piece of history. During the Civil War the people would buy these CDV image to see what the people looked like that they had been reading about in the papers and hearing about from the soldiers. This is a CDV album containing 45 CDV engravings of important Civil War figures, most with printed identification and credited on their paper mount to Elias Dexter, Broadway, NY. In their pages they have the paper slips bearing either printed or manuscript with the identifications of the subjects. There are 45 different images of military men as well as famous Union politicians of the day. Featured portraits include Abraham Lincoln, William H. Seward, Edwin M. Stanton, Salmon P. Chase, Gideon Welles, Winfield Scott, John E. Wool, Charles Henry Davis, George B. McClellan, Henry Halleck, John A. Dix, Ambrose Burnside, Fitz J. Porter, Nathaniel P. Banks, Franz Sigel, Benjamin Butler, Robert Anderson and many, many others. The album is in nice displaying but worn condition and the images are attractive. They haven't been out of the pages but displays well. You get all 45 of the images as well as the album for $695.00. That's less than $16 each and you get the album for free.
