This is a beautiful edged weapon! This is a straight blade officer sword that would date from the late 1820's to the 1830's. The blade is full-length at 31-1/2 inches. The blade has the beautiful factory etching on both side and it still retains some of the original frosting from the factory. The front side of the blade has the floral and patriotic designs in the etching. At the base of the blade, it has the "C. Keller" maker marking. Just above that, it has the 15 star design. The back side of the blade, it has the similar design as well as the same star count. It also has the etched production location of "Solingen". The handguard is int he classic "P" shape that was popular during this era. The grip itself is made using a polished piece of bone that has the beautiful detail work carved into it. The sword is accompanied by the original steel scabbard. the scabbard has the regular sword hangers in addition to the stud at the top so it could be used with a shoulder sling if the soldier preferred. The sword scabbard is complete with the throat and drag as well as the mounts and rings. It even has the small sections of leather and buckles from the sword belt hangers that would have hung off of the belt itself. This is a beautiful sword in fine condition!
