Original Civil War Excavated Company Hat Letter "B" From Harrison's Landing
Click on an image to enlarge

Here is a great looking excavated piece. It is an original company letter insignia form a Civil War soldier's hat. This is the insignia that was made out of a stamped piece of brass. This one is the letter "B" which lets us know that it would have been worn by a soldier in company "B". It is in fine shape with a nice medium patina all over. It was lost by one of the soldiers during the War. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was recovered decades ago at Harrison's Landing, Virginia. It will enhance any Civil War artifact collection.
