Authentic Non-Excavated Civil War Marine Corps Coat Button MC10
Click on an image to enlarge
This is an authentic non-excavated coat size uniform button for the Marine Corps. On the face of the button it has Marine Corps seal. They look very similar to that of the Civil War navy except that the eagle and anchor are under an arc of stars rather than being encircled by stars. The button has a fine look. It has a very nice amount of the original gold gilding remaining on the button face. The original back and shank is present. You can clearly read the backmark of the Scovill Company of Waterbury, Massachusetts. This is the style listed as MC10in Albert's button book and as MC218a9 in Tice's book. It is an original and attractive coat size Civil War Marine Corps uniform button.
