This is a nice pair of original Infantry Captain's Civil War officer shoulderboard. These are the high quality construction design that are of the Smith Patent version. They have the brass boarder with the cardboard backing and dark blue cloth reverse. These are for the rank of 1st Lieutenant because of the single small bar on each side of the board. We know that these are for the Infantry branch of service because of their blue color in the center that has now faded to a tan color. The boards are in well worn condition with the remnants of the Smith Patent marking still partially visible on the back as you can see in the pictures. These boards come nicely displayed in a riker box on a red background. They will make a superb addition to your Infantry display.
