Scarce Original 1864 McClellan - Pendleton Ferrotype Image Token
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a quite scarce original piece from the 1864 election won by President Abraham Lincoln. It is one of the ferrotype image token from Lincoln's opponent, George B. McClellan. On one side it would have had the ferrotype image of the General McClellan (missing). The image is mounted on the brass token and the edge reads "THE CONSTITUTION AS IT IS 1864". On the back of the token it reads "PT. APR 2 1861". In the center of that side it has the bust view of the prospect for Vice-President, C.H. Pendleton. The Pendleton image has the loss and wear as you see in the pics and it is priced accordingly. The token measures just a little less than 1 inch across. In mint condition, these are bringing over $1,000 these days. This is a wonderful piece from one of the most important Presidential campaigns in American history.
