This is a cool looking little gun. This is the single shot pistol that was made by the National Firearms Company of Brooklyn, New York. It has their maker's mark and production location along the top of the 2-1/2 inch barrel. The sides of the barrel have the engraving including the floral design. The frame on these guns are made of iron and this one has a nice gray tone to the patina. The engraved scroll work on the brass displays superbly as you can see in the pictures. The action works well on the little gun. When you cock back the hammer the button on the side releases the barrel so it can pivot to the side for loading. On the underside of the barrel it has the serial number of 10,072. According to Flayderman they made approximately 12,000 of these pistols between 1865 to 1870. This is a very nice looking and complete .41 caliber rimfire Deringer pistol by National.
