Click on an image to enlarge

This is a great looking sword! It is an original Civil War era cavalry officer's saber in the original scabbard. This is the pattern that was made by the Klingenthal Arsenal in France and imported for private sale to well-to-do union officers of cavalry. Along the top of the full-length 36-1/4th inch blade it has the Klingenthal Arsenal marking. The blade has a pleasing light gray color with the pretty tone. This is the version that was manufactured with the blade that have no etching. The guard and pommel cap have a beautiful tone to the brass. Each of these pieces has the floral pattern ornamentation that denotes the sword being for an officer instead of an enlistedman. The sword has the original grip still in tact. The sword grip is constructed of a wooden core cover by sharkskin. It is in superb shape all over. The original twisted spring style copper wire wrapping is present with a gorgeous look. The sword is accompanied by the original metal scabbard. The scabbard has the original throat and drag in tact as well as both of the rings and mounts. This is a nice original Civil War cavalry officer sword that displays beautifully.
