This is a fine displaying uniform button. This is the Confederate infantry coat button that would have been worn by one of the regular fighting men of the South. This is the style with the block letter "I" on the brass face that denotes the infantry branch of service. This one has a vividly clear "I". When it was recovered the face had some cracks. We had the button back restored for display purposes and it is priced accordingly. On the back of the button, it has some of the original tin back remaining and displays well with some restorations. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was found in the 1960's in the Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia area. Chancellorsville was a battle between the Confederate forces of Robert E. Lee and Union General Joseph Hooker on April 30th until May 6, 1863.This is a nice displaying and affordable Confederate tin back infantry coat button.
