Original U.S. Soldier's Excavated Belt Buckle With Original Leather Under the Hook
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a cool belt buckle! It is an original Civil War U.S. soldier's waist belt buckle. The face of the plate has the classic bold "US" lettering. It has some cracks but still displays well. When you turn the plate over you see that in the lead fill of the back you can see that the arrow style belt hooks. It still retains the two arrow hooks as well as having the original keeper hook intact. If you notice underneath one of the arrow hooks it has a small portion of the original leather from the soldier's belt still attached. It isn't very often that the soil preserves the leather this way. This is a very nice looking buckle with the leather under the hooks.
