Click on an image to enlarge
Here is something you seldom see. It is an original pair of Civil War Gunners Pincers. These are a variation of the ones pictured on page 158 of the Civil War Cannon Fuse book by Chuck Jones. He states how these were first illustrated in the 1849 edition of Mordecai's artillery manual. These are made of hand formed iron and could be Confederate in manufacture. They measure 7 inches in overall length. They are designed with the pincers on one side. On the legs it has one side that has the claw for pulling out nails. He also notes that they were used frequently for cutting paper time fuses. This is a very neat original Civil War artillery implement.
