Here is a very nice veteran's medal that was held in 1891 in Detroit, Michigan. This one is special because it was the 25th anniversary of the Grand Army of the Republic, which was the veterans organization of the Union soldiers of the Civil War. The top bar is made of brass and the pin is still on the reverse. The top bar has the "DETROIT 1891" in the center. On the back of the lower medallion it has the President of the Women's Relief Corps, which was the ladies' axillary organization to the G.A.R. The front of the medallion has the image of the Michigan great seal. Behind the top bar and the medallion it has the golden ribbon still present with the wear as you can see. This is a great original Union veteran's medal.
