What a beautifully designed piece from the Confederate State of North Carolina. This is a wonderful original 1862 dated savings bond from the State of North Carolina. The bond is printed with the black and blue ink that displays beautifully with the paper that has aged to a fine tan tone. This one was issued on March 1st 1862 and that date is hand written in in at the top. Across the very top it states "CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA" and notes that the Confederate Government authorized the State of North Carolina to issue the bond for the sum of $1,000. This is a bond that was lithographed by J. Manouvrier. It is signed by authority of the State Treasurer and is signed by the governor Henry T. Clark. Also at the top it has the image of the North Carolina state seal along with the steam train image. At the lower portion of the bond it has the 35 interest coupons intact. The bond measures 17 inches by 18 inches in overall size. The paper has the toning to a pretty dark tan color. It has some separations along some of the fold lines and is priced accordingly. What a wonderful piece of history from the Tar Heel State!
