This is a very nice looking original Confederate made Civil War coat button for the state of North Carolina. It has the famous North Carolina state seal on the face of the button with the bold "NORTH CAROLINA" across the top edge. The face of this beauty has a wonderful dark chocolate tone. On the top of the button, it has the cool casting flaw in the brass. They needed the button in the field so they sent it out for service rather than melt it down and start over again. That's Confederate necessity. These were well made buttons made in the Confederacy for use by the North Carolina troops. The reverse of the button has the original back intact with the original shank intact. It has the correct Civil War maker's mark of "W. WILDT &
SONS RICHMOND,VA". This is the pattern listed as figure NC8 in Albert's button book and NC210B1 in Tice's button book. This is a fine example of Confederate workmanship and will be a solid addition to any Confederate button collection.
