Here is something that you don't encounter every day. It is an original ancient bronze dagger. The one-piece bronze dagger Measures 19-3/4ths inches in overall length with a 13 inch double edged blade molded with broad central ridge. It has the integrally cast grip that is raised on the edges which would've originally been for inlaid grip scales. In more modern times, someone has inset some bone panels to show how it would have been adorned. The piece has a thick patina all over with a greenish brown tone. This pattern of knife would've been produced in the area of Luristan which is in the modern-day area of western Iran in the Zagros Mountains. The term Luristan references artifacts made by a society of semi-nomadic people that once lived in the mountainous region of Northwest Iran. Little is known of this ancient culture but the most impressive traces are that of the bronze artifacts they left behind that can be found in parts of present-day Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan. These include highly decorative equipment for their horses, ceremonial containers and many are found in institutional collections, especially more elaborate examples. This type of weapon was designed for up close and personal combat and would've been produced from approximately 1500 to 800 years before Christ. For the last several decades, this spear has been in the collection of Mr. Glenn Mattox of Post Falls, Idaho. Mr. Mattox passed and I was able to get this blade that he would NEVER sell me. I have enjoyed it and now it can be part of your collection. This is your opportunity to own a 100% authentic ancient dagger.
