Fine Looking Colonial Era Private Purchase Blued Spurs With Strap Adjuster
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a very fine non-excavated cavalry spur. This is a variant of the spurs that are pictured and described on page 70 of the fine spur book by Dr. Bob Baird entitled Confederate, US and Other Civil War Used Spurs. He explains how these are spurs that would have been privately purchased by an officer and how they are like those from colonial times to the Federal era. They are made of blued metal with a pleasing color. The spur still has the original metal buckle for adjusting the leather boot strap (missing). The spur is in beautiful non-excavated condition. It still has the original rowel intact. This is a great looking spur!
