Here is a good looking note. This is a piece of currency was issued by the County of Fluvanna in Virginia and is marked as such along the top of the note. This note was issued for the amount of 25 cents each. It has the printed date of February 23rd 1863 in the upper right hand corner. On the center of the note it has the image of a dog's head. The note has the black ink that makes it displays well. It is printed on the very thin paper so it is amazing that it has survived all these years. The serial number is in ink as well as the clerk signature. When you turn the note over you see that it was printed on paper that had already been used. During the War, it was cheaper to use this paper than to get new paper. These notes were printed on the back of of a an unused check left over when the firm of H.T. Pairo & Son had voluntarily closed its doors in late 1862 or early 1863 and had been succeeded by another partnership. The note measures 4-3/8ths inches by 2 inches in size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
