Pikeville Battle & Trent Affair News New Orleans Newspaper Dated November 18th 1861

Here is a tough to find authentic Confederate newspaper. This is an original edition of the New Orleans Daily Crescent dated December 18th 1861. This large size paper measures 23 inches by 17 inches in overall size. The cover story of the paper tells of the news of the "THE PIKEVILLE (Kentucky) BATTLE". It also has the headline of the arrest of Slidell and Mason which would become known as the Trent Affair. The are also several recruitment advertisements for the Confederacy. There is also an ad inside for a slave merchant. This is a nice displaying copy that has the chips around the edges and some wear but displays well. You don't see many of the Confederate New Orleans newspaper because the city fell into Union control on April 24th 1862. A great piece of history from the Crescent City in the Pelican State!
