Lever Top James Dixon & Sons Leather Covered Civil War Era Rifle Size Powder Flask

This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one has the body has the brass sides with no markings on the sides. It is covered with the original leather covering that is in fine shape. The flask stands about 8-1/4ths inches tall and is about 3-1/2 inches across. It has a beautiful untouched tone patina to the brass with some light bumps and bruises from being carried. It is the version that doesn't have the strap rings on the sides. The German silver spout is present and the spring is still functional. This one is designed with the lever style spout and all of the parts are present and it is functional. Along the top of the spout base it is marked "JAMES DIXON / & SONS / SHEFFIELD". This is the style flask that was popular during the mid-1800's and this size would have been for a high quality large pistol or rifle. It has a very attractive overall look!
