I got a good buy on this one and thought I would pass it along! This is one of my favorite Confederate States of '
America savings bond. This original 1863 dated Confederate savings bond was issued for the $500 denomination. This is the style that has the image of a Confederate soldier in the center of the bond. This pattern always seemed like they were trying to play on the sympathy at home. It has the soldier trying to warm his hands over the campfire while he is away at war. In the lower center of the top of the bond it has the image of the paddle wheel ship gong down the river. It is hand signed and numbered and printed on a paper that has a tan tone. At the bottom of the bond are the original interest coupons that would have been cashed if the Confederate Government would have stayed in existence. This one actually has the correct number of the original coupons intact, meaning that cashed in the coupons for payment until the end of the war. The next one would have been payable on July 1st 1865. This is the Confederate bond listed as CR-121 in the bond book. This is a great piece of Confederate history from 1863.
