Here is a nice original bank note from the "THE CITY OF PETERSBURG" of the state of Virginia. This one was
printed for the amount of $1.00. It was issued on April 23rd 1861 and is printed in the lower right hand side of the note. This is right in the heart of a town
that would become one of the fiercest battles of the Civil War, Petersburg. It is correctly
hand signed and numbered in ink. These notes are printed on the front side and
were left blank on the reverse which is referred to by collectors as being "uniface". One neat thing about this note is the diamond shape stamp on the reverse. It reads "BOUGHT AT THE / OLD STONE HOUSE / Washington's Headquarters / RICHMOND, VA". This house still stands and is a museum so this note would have been sold by the museum in the early days of the 1900's. A neat little touch on an already cool note. The note is in nice circulated condition and is
100% authentic in all regards. It comes in an acid free holder for display and
preservation.
