Excellent Detail! Excavated Coat Size Civil War Georgia State Seal by Horstmann GA4

This is a very attractive excavated coat size button for the state of ' Georgia. On the face is the classic Georgia arch with the word Constitution on the top of the arch. The button has a nice look all over with fine detail to the face. As you can see it has a beautiful color which gives it a beautiful look. The original back is present as is the original shank. It has the Civil War backmark of "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN/NY" still visible. This is the Horstmann backmark with the concentric inner ring of rays. This is the style listed as GA4 in Albert's button book and GA206a1 in Tice's button book. The verbal history that accompanied this button is that it was found decades ago near Fort Fisher, North Carolina. This is a very nice looking excavated gold gilded Civil War Georgia state seal coat button.
