This is a nice looking piece of history from the United Confederate Veterans. The United Confederate Veterans were the organization made up of Confederate Survivors of the Civil War. They held reunion and erected monuments to the brave men that fought for the South during the Civil War. This medal was to commemorate the 1924 reunion of the U.C.V. that was held in Memphis, Tennessee. The top medallion has the image of the building and the location of the reunion in Memphis. The original pin is on the reverse of the top bar. The bottom medallion has the image of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest's statue in Memphis. He was buried underneath the statue in Memphis until he and his wife were moved to Elm Springs, Tennessee at the Sons of Confederate veterans Headquarters. Around the edge it has the "UCV" lettering and the date of the reunion. It still has most of the original blue and red enamel paint. On the back of the bottom medallion it has the correct maker's mark of the Whitehead & Hoag Company. This is an excellent medal for any collection.
