This is an original Civil War era CDV image of Civil War General U.S. Grant. It is a bust view of the general in a stately pose with the heavy beard. The image shows the general in his uniform with his stars visible on his shoulder. Along the bottom edge, it reads "PRES. U.S. GRANT". Since it shows Grant in his uniform it is probably done early in Grant's Presidency in 1868. On the back of the image it has the tape remnants from a previous mounting. The card measures 2-1/2 inches by 4 inches in overall size. This is a solid original Civil War Union CDV image of U.S. Grant.
