Beautiful Brass Frame 4 Barrel Sharps Pepperbox Civil War Pistol
Click on an image to enlarge

Here is a beautiful original Civil War era .30 caliber pepperbox style revolver. This is the distinctive pattern made by the famous firm of Christian Sharps of Philadelphia and is maker marked on the side of the frame. These guns were designed using the 1859 patent of Christian Sharps. The left hand side of the frame has the 1859 patent date stamped into the brass. Rather than have the barrel rotate they have the striker on the inside of the frame that rotates when the hammer is pulled back. This striker is present and still rotates. It has matching serial numbers of 17,563. The 2-1/2 inch barrels slide forward to allow for loading the .30 caliber rimfire cartridges. This is the model that has the barrel release on the under side of the frame. The release is complete and functional. On the handle of the gun it has the original wooden grips on the gun with a fine hand checkered medium tone. This is a nice displaying and cool Civil War era pepperbox revolver from the famous Sharps Company.
