Excavated Confederate Tin back Block "I" Infantry Coat Button
Click on an image to enlarge
This is the classic Confederate uniform button of the Civil War. This is the pattern that was worn by the actual fighting men of the day. It has the large block letter "I" on the face of the button that denotes the Infantry branch of service. The button is bent and it is priced accordingly. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "Tinback I" because the backing of the button is made of tin. This one still has the tinback intact but is missing the original brass shank. This is an original excavated coat size Confederate infantry uniform button.
