Here is an original piece of history from the man that served as Abraham Lincoln's first Vice-President, Hannibal Hamlin. This is an excellent original 1856 ballot from when Hamlin ran for the Governor of Maine. He was elected by a large margin but only served a couple of months before he returned to the U.S. House of Representatives. This printed ballot measures 2-7/8ths inches by 3-3/4ths inches in overall size and is dated from September 1856. It is accompanied by a modern Xerox image of Hamlin.
