Nice Excavated Civil War Brass Ring From Chancellorsville, Virginia
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a neat silver ring from a Civil War campsite. This thin silver ring was probably a soldier's wedding ring. He surely missed this one when he lost it, so far from his loved ones at home. The verbal history that accompanied this piece is that it was found in the 1960's in the Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia area. Chancellorsville was a battle between the Confederate forces of Robert E. Lee and Union General Joseph Hooker on April 30th until May 6, 1863. The ring is in nice shape with a pretty gray tone patina.
