Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a great looking socket bayonet from the late 1700's to the early part of the 1800's. This is a variation of the ones pictured in the book by Skinnerton & Richardson, British & Commonwealth Bayonets. They state how these are version that were made for the Brown Bess pattern muskets possibly for the East India Company. It has the 16-1/2 inch barrel with the socket that measures 3.8 inches. The inside diameter of the socket is .89 inches and the back of the socket is .96 inches. The bayonet is in very fine shape all over. It is accompanied by an original English pattern scabbard made of leather and brass. This is a great looking piece!
