This is a great looking original Civil War foot officer's sword in the original scabbard. This is the classic style that was carried by officers during the Civil War. This one has the desirable retailer mark of the firm of Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York City. Schuyler sold high grade military items to well-to-do Union soldiers. It is clearly etched with their mark at the base of the front side of the blade. Schuyler retailed many high quality pieces such as this sword to be sold to the well-to-do officers during the Civil War. The blade of this sword is full-length at 32 inches. It is beautiful etched on both sides. The front side of the blade has the spread wing Union eagle with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ribbon below her. On the back side of the blade it has the "US" in the center of the blade. The brass on the handguard and pommel cap has a gorgeous untouched look with the gold gilding down int he protected areas. The original sharkskin grip is present on the sword handle with a pretty look. It has both of the double strand twisted brass wire intact with a fine look. The sword is accompanied by the original iron and leather scabbard. The scabbard is 100% complete with a great look all over.
