This is an attractive original 1864 issue of the $2.00 bill. Along the top of the note it has the Richmond Virginia, location of issuance and the printed date of issuance of February 17th 1864. On the right hand side it has Judah P. Benjamin from the Confederate Cabinet. Benjamin was from Louisiana and held many important positions in the Confederate Government. At different times during the Civil War he served the Confederacy as Attorney General, Secretary of War and Secretary of State. At the end of the Civil War he fled to England and practiced law rather than live under U.S. rule. This is the version listed as figure T-70 in Criswell's Confederate Currency book. It is nicely and correctly hand signed and numbered in old ink. It is in attractive circulated condition. On the reverse of the note, it has the two paper pieces from a previous mounting and it is priced accordingly. This note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
