Ohio's Western Military Institute Cadet Coat Button SU430
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a beautiful coat size cadet button from the 1850's. This is from the Western Military Institute of Ohio. Since there are less than 20 of the original Civil War Ohio state seal buttons surviving, this is the only affordable way to have a Civil War Ohio button in your collection. It is the version listed as SU430 in Albert's book and as OHS210a2. The face of the button has the American shield over the old English style "W.M.I." letters. On the back of the button it has the RMDC backmark of the Scovill firm in Waterbury, Connecticut. It is in beautiful non-excavated condition.
