Nice Restored Civil War Enfield With Potts & Hunt Production Mark Possible C.S.

This is a nice authentic Civil War Enfield pattern rifle. This is the classic style that was carried by soldiers throughout the Civil War. This one was made by the firm of Potts & Hunt and is so marked on the lockplate of the musket. It also has the "LONDON" production location. Potts & Hunt were known to have produced weapons that were imported to the Confederacy. The action works well on all positions. The barrel is full-length and has the correct London inspector proof marks at the breech. It is marked "25" which is the English way of marking the bore as .577 caliber or 25 Gauge. The bore of the gun has some of the rifling all the way down. It has the original rear and front sights present as well. The rear sight has the single leaf design and it is still intact with the slide being lost to the ages. The stock has a nice medium tone all over with a nice used but not abused look. It has been repaired at the rear barrel band forward using the forestock from another original gun. It displays well. It looks nice but is mentioned for exactness and it is priced accordingly. The gun still has the original sling swivels on the underside of the gun. The ramrod in the channel underneath the barrel is a correct style modern replacement that has been added for display purposes. This is a nice looking Enfield pattern rifle with the desirable Potts & Hunt maker mark.
