Here is a sword that you don't see offered very often these days. This is the original Civil War medical staff officer sword. Officially known as the US model 1840 medical staff sword this is the classic style that was worn by the doctors of the Civil War era. This sword has a great looking color all over. The blade is 27-1/2 inches in overall length with an attractive ancient look all over. You can still see a beautiful amount of the etching on each side of the blade. Each side of the blade has the floral and geometric etching as well as the Union eagle with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" national motto above. The Latin motto translates as "Of Many, One!". These swords have a beautifully ornate handle and cross guard. The cross guard has the shield in the center and as you can see it still has the applied German silver "MS" lettering. These letters stand for the medical service branch of the Union army. The cast brass handle has the beautiful droop wing style union Eagle on each side. The Eagle holds the arrows of war in one talon in the branch of peace and the other. At the very top of the sword it is all held together by the tang nut that is designed in the form of a acorn. When you take the handle off, you see the king's head trademark that lets us know it was made for the American market by the famous Solingen swordmaker, Gebruder, Weyersburg. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard that is constructed entirely of brass. The scabbard still retains all three sword hanger rings as well as the drag on the bottom of the sword scabbard. As you can see the mounts have the beautiful designs to accentuate the sword itself. Items can be shipped UPS or USPS Priority Mail. Tennessee residents must include 9.75% sales tax. All items are 100% GUARANTEED. If for any reason you are unhappy with the relic just return it UNALTERED within 5 days for a refund minus shipping charges and restocking fee of 6%. Layaways can be arranged on items over $100. Layaway terms are; 1/3 down and 1/3 in 30 days with balance due in full in 60 days. Due to time factors there are no refunds or price discounts on layaways.
