The State of South Carolina issued them for the amount of 1,000 pounds sterling. This is the pattern listed int he bond book as Cr. 71A. This rare bond is unissued and it has a lateral center fold. It and its 39 coupons have each been cut cancelled. Almost every cut cancel has been repaired with tape. It has the beautiful cotton boll vignette at the top of the bond. This bond is signed by Governor Robert (Kingston) Scott. He was a former Union general who served with Sherman. The paper measures 15 inches by 22 inches in overall size. It is a nice big savings bond that is ready to frame for your wall.
