Here is a cool bayonet. This one is like the one illustrated as Figure B41 in the American Socket Bayonets and Scabbards book by Robert Reilly. He tell how these bayonets are circa 1800 and some of them show up with the "MS" marking. This one is unmarked except for the small "3" on the side of the socket. The top of the blade is flat. It measures 19-1/4th inches in overall size with the socket making up 3 of those inches. The opening for the sight is along the top of the socket. One side of the opening is slightly bent and mentioned for exactness. The inside of the socket measures .86 inches. This is a very attractive bayonet that is over 200 years old.
