This is a beautiful original Civil War naval artillery fuse box. This is the leather pouch that went on the side of the Civil War naval artilleryman. It held his paper time fuzes for firing the cannon shells. The original closure tab is present but separated and is inside the box. On the bottom of the box it has the brass finial. On the back of the box it has the original leather belt loop solidly intact. The box measures approximately 4-3/4ths inches by 4 inches by 2-1/2 inches in overall size. This will make a fine addition for a naval or artillery collector either one.
