Artillery
Superb Non-Excavated Coat Size Ordnance Corps Button OC5 By Scovill
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a beautiful non-excavated coat size version of the ordnance corps cuff button. It has the classic crossed cannon design on the face with the ordnance bomb above the crossed cannon. In the center it has a buckled garter that proudly reads "ORDNANCE CORPS". The face of this one has a fine amount of the original gold gilding down in the recesses. The original back and shank are present and are in fine shape. It has the correct Civil War Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut maker's mark on the reverse. This is the pattern listed in Albert's button book as OC5 and in Tice's button book is an unlisted version of ORD215. This is a very nice non dug button that will compliment any Civil War or artillery collection.
