.36 Caliber Colt "Navy" Revolver With 1853 Production Serial Numbers
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a good looking gun! It is an original .36 caliber revolver from the famous Colt firearms Company. This has the Sam Colt maker mark across the top of the barrel to go along with the ' New York City location. New York was the location of the Colt office with the actual production of the gun taking place in Hartford, Connecticut. The barrel is full-length at 7-1/2 inches in length. The front sight is a blade style silver sight. It fires the standard six shots and is of the model 1851 design. Except for the numbered cylinder wedge from another gun, it has all matching serial numbers of 19,805 which would have been made in 1853. This is the early production that has the smaller size triggerguard. The action of the gun works on all positions. The body of the cylinder still retains only very faint traces of the original naval battle scene that was rolled onto the metal at the Colt factory. You can see the serial number quite well on the cylinder. On the handle of the gun are the original 1-piece walnut grips. The wood has a cool look with the inlays on each side as you can see in the images. This is a nice and solid original .36 caliber Colt revolver with a good early production date.
