Nice Original 1864 Watertown Arsenal .58 Caliber Cartridge Box

Here is a very nice original cartridge box for the Civil War .58 caliber Springfield rifle. This one has a clear "US" embossed on the outer flap which means that it is the model of 1864. The box has all of the loops on the back of the box. These boxes were made so they could be used with a belt or a shoulder sling. It has both of the roller buckles on the bottom of the box. It has the original brass finial intact. The closure tab is present and complete as you can see in the picture. When you open up the outer flap you can see the maker mark on the inner flap. It has the "WATERTOWN ARSENAL 1864" still clearly visible. It also has the implement and tool compartments still present and accessible. On the innermost compartment it still has both of the original tins. This is a pretty and solid 1865 production cartridge box for the .58 caliber Springfield rifle from the famous Watertown Arsenal.
