This is a very attractive excavated coat size button for the state of
Georgia. What is cool about this button is that it is the version that was made during the Civil War by Confederate makers. Collectors refer to this button as being a "local" manufactured button. On the brass face of the button is the classic
Georgia state seal. The button has a nice look all over with excellent detail to the face. There is the push to the center of the face as you can see and it is priced accordingly. The original brass back and shank is present with the shank being loose. These buttons were produced without a maker's Mark on the reverse but it has the depressed channel and you can see traces of the stars in the channel. This is the style listed as GA10 in Albert's button book and GA227C1 in Tice's button book. This is a good looking scarce version of excavated Confederate made Civil War
Georgia state seal coat button.
