1856 Dated Mississippi Mutual Insurance Company $10 Note
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is an antebellum piece of currency from Aberdeen, Mississippi. This one was issued by the Mississippi Mutual Insurance Company and is dated from December 29th 1856 along the top edge. The note is beautifully designed with the maidens in the center and the farmer in the lower right hand corner. The cashier was H.D. Spratt and the president was T.W. Williams. The notes were printed by Danforth, Wright & Co. As you can see, the brittle paper is missing some after all of the years. This is the first one of these I have ever been able to offer. It comes in an acid-free holder for display and preservation.
