Original Civil War Leather Sword Knot With Partial Gaylord Maker's Mark
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is an original Civil War era leather sword knot. This is the black bridle leather version that you often see adorning Civil War cavalry sabers. The leather strap is complete with both of the adjusters. At the bottom of the knot it has most of the body but the tassels are lost to the ages. You can still see the Gaylord maker's mark stamped into the leather. The leather has stiffened over the years but would still go back onto a sword without breaking and it will make a nice addition to display beside your Civil War cavalry saber if you don't have one.
