Wonderful Relic Condition Scottish Basket Hilt Broad Sword
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very cool looking piece! It is an original Scottish basket hilt sword that is in relic condition. This classic design was used by Scotsmen for centuries. By the blade construction I would date this one from the late 1700 or early 1800's. The blade is 33-1/2 inches in length. It is nicely crafted with the double fullers on each side of the blade. The hand guard is the stylish large iron basket patter. It has the many turns and curves with the trimmed out hearts and star designs. It has the large cap and dome holding the blade and hand guard together. You can tell that this one has been exposed to the elements for eons. The handle has been lost to time but the original iron ferrule is still present. This is one of the coolest displaying swords that I have been able to offer in quite a while.
