This is one of the prettiest and toughest to find of the Tennessee obsolete bank notes. This one is for the sum of $10 and is from my hometown in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The bank of Lawrence burg, Tennessee was founded in 1848 with capitol totaling $100,000. It was owned by William Simonton and sold to W. H. Slover of Memphis, Tennessee. The assets were moved to Memphis and they became part of the Gayoso Savings Institution. This particular note was never signed or issued from the Lawrenceburg bank but the others that I have had over the years were from 1859. The note stands out because of the red ink that has turned to a beautiful orange tone over the years. The center of the note has the scene of the goddess reclining against a Union shield with the eagle above her. One side has the steam ship and the other has the steam train scene. This note displays superbly and is in fine uncirculated condition. This note is a remainder that has been falsely filled in (both the date and signature are not consistent with the correct information). It measures 7-5/16ths inches by 3-1/8th inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. I have bought a small handful of these Lawrenceburg notes for my Dad over the years and I can tell you from experience that they are not easy to find and this is a nice one.
